Gr 3 Test - Sciences sociales - Thursday

The Gr 3's came home with a Review Sheet on Friday that outlines what will be on the Test. Please take some time to look over work that has been done in the SS duotang as well as readings in Le Cahier de lecture. Please note: word banks and multiple choice questions will be on the test. Merci!

Gr. 3 Les communautés en Ontario

Students went home with a visual dictionary in their Cahier de lecture yesterday. Please review these words at home to help support the activities we are doing at school everyday.  We are going to be starting an inquiry project at school this week. Students will work in groups of 2 to create a slide-show on a rural community of their choice in Ontario. They will be researching the type of community it is (ie. forestière, minière ou agricole) and follow a model to include certain information in the slide-show (related to natural resources, jobs, etc...). They seem eager to begin the projects!

Les ressources naturelles en Ontario

Bonjour! This week's reading focuses on Ontario's natural resources. We are learning how natural resources help to create jobs (ie. farmers, steel workers, miners, forest rangers, etc). We watched a video today and will take part in various group and individual activities to deepen our understanding.

Please make sure to practise the reading at least 3X each week and initial the page every time.

Gr 3 "Mon petit livre pour la paix"

Bonjour! Your child came home today with a reading based on a booklet he/she is working on at school. Please practise this reading at home. Students will be evaluated on their reading pronunciation this week. You can listen to my pronunciation here: Mon petit livre pour la paix

Gr 3 SS Quiz - Monday

Gr. 6 Social Studies Homework- due Tuesday

Bonjour!  In our unit on "Le Canada et le monde", we have begun to focus on how we are "des citoyens du monde" (citizens of the World). We played a fun game called "GloBingo" today and the students came to realize the many links that we have with other countries.
For homework, students are asked to search their home for items that have come from other countries. Please ensure this sheet is completed by TUESDAY.  Merci!  Mme Goold

Gr 3 Presentations

Bonjour! Today, students came home with 1) the Sciences sociales Quiz and 2) a sheet in their Cahier de lecture to practice for a French presentation.
Please check your child's progress in SS and make sure corrections are made appropriately on the quiz. Most of this should be a review from grade 2.
I would also like your child to practise his/her presentation sheet (see highlighted words). Presentations will begin on Thursday. They are asked to bring in 2 items and a photo of themself. Students can listen to the following recording of my voice for extra pronunciation assistance:

Gr. 6 Sciences sociales

The grade 6's have begun to focus on ways that Canada helps other countries in the World. We have been researching various organizations that provide foreign aid as well as how Canadians have helped others in times of disasters and conflict. Very interesting topic!

Sciences sociales QUIZ Gr.3

The Gr 3's will have a very short review quiz in Social Studies on Thursday. It will be a fill-in-the-blank format with the words provided at the bottom.  Students will also be required to locate Ontario on a map of Canada. Merci!

Gr 3 Quiz & Le cahier de lecture

The Gr 3's will be coming home with their corrected, open-book quiz based on our story "Qu'est-ce que c'est?".  This story was read and acted out at school.  It was also sent home in Le cahier de lecture. Please take a look at your child's work and go over the answers with him/her. I also wrote a comment on their oral reading skills at the top of the quiz. The quiz remains at home.

Please ensure to continue practsing Le cahier de lecture at home on a regular basis (at least 3 times/week). Return le cahier next Tuesday for a new sheet.  Merci!

Gr 3 - Sciences sociales

The Gr 3's have begun their unit on "Living and Working in Ontario".  We will be focusing on activities, resources, and jobs in the 3 regions in Ontario. We'll also be examining many maps so if you have a chance, have your child explore Google Earth or the following interactive map website: Maps of the World

Gr. 6 Maps of the World

The Grade 6's have been given until Wednesday to complete their map of the World at home. In our Social Studies unit, we will be learning ways that Canada and Canadians make a difference in the world through our participation in various organizations.

Gr 3 Quiz

Students will be coming home with a word-to-picture matching quiz on their "ecole" words that we were focusing on last week (and hopefully they were also practising "a la maison"). Please take a look at the quiz and review the words. It might be a good idea to create a set of cards with pictures and another set with the words and create your own matching games, if your child requires extra practise.

Gr 3 Reminder

Parents, please remember to initial the page in "le cahier de lecture" everyday that your child practices. Another idea is to initial the page and put a checkmark beside your initial everyday that your child practices. Also, don't forget to send "le cahier" back to school every Monday. Merci!!

Gr 6 French Tests to Sign

Please correct and sign French tests by Thursday. Merci!

Gr 6 TEST - Friday

Please review the sheet "Phrases cles" in preparation for the test on Friday. Students will be required to match up French and English sayings. Bonne chance!

Gr 3- Le cahier de lecture

Le cahier de lecture was sent home on Monday. I hope you had a chance to practise! Please make sure to have a parent initial the sheet everyday that you practise. Try to practise at least 3 times each week and return the "cahier" in the bag provided. Merci! Mme Goold
